Position Overview: Craigslist Foundation is seeking a strategic Director of Operations to ensure the operational effectiveness the organization. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Operations will build and develop systems and processes to create a seamless and effective environment that enables staff to meet their goals and fulfill the organization’s mission. In this role, the Director of Operations will have primary responsibility for building operational processes: managing budget creation, tracking, and reporting; managing Human Resources, including job and organizational performance mechanisms, payroll & benefits; and overseeing IT and Facilities. The Director of Operations will comprise a department of one; therefore this position requires both strategic and tactical duties.
Craigslist Foundation has an annual operating budget of $2M and currently has a six-person full time staff with a variety of contractors and interns supplementing our staff throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive budget development process, oversee transactional bookkeeping and financial reporting
- Lead in the planning, development and implementation of Key Performance Indicators for the organization and each staff member
- Lead hiring efforts for any new staff, temporary staff, or interns, including streamlining the hiring and orientation processes
- Manage any temporary or permanent administrative staff
- Manage benefits vendor, payroll, insurance and 401K contribution
- Oversee and manage all office administrative functions: receiving and distributing mail, ordering office supplies, filing, reception, phone messages, organizational email accounts, petty cash
- Drive greening of office operations
- Oversee IT support: contracts, purchasing and maintenance of hardware, software, office equipment and accounts and external support resources
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience leading the development and execution of key operational functions within an entrepreneurial company or nonprofit organization
- Experience creating and managing budgets
- Sophisticated interpersonal and people management skills, including strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, with an ability to solve problems independently
- Proficiency in Macintosh software and hardware
- A passion for mission-based organizations
